Qu’on les appelle pets, vents, flatulences ou gaz, les ballonnements sont une accumulation de gaz dans l’intestin grêle.

 

Ce trouble digestif est particulièrement fréquent durant les SPM et la périménopause. Quel rapport dites-vous? Et surtout, que faire pour s’en débarrasser?

 

 

Les ballonnements provoquent une distension de l’abdomen, parfois au point de ressembler à une grossesse assez avancée.  Généralement, les gaz s’accumulent au cours de la journée et causent beaucoup d’inconforts.  On part de chez soi le matin avec des pantalons bien ajustés, pour finir l’après-midi avec un bouton qui menace de sauter. Bien que toutes les femmes en période de ménopause puissent en être affectées, celles qui ont souffert de ballonnements durant leur SPM y sont plus sujettes.

 

À qui la faute?

Les causes des ballonnements sont variées et nombreuses; depuis une alimentation trop riche en glucides et en féculents, jusqu’au sport d’endurance en passant par le stress. Mais pourquoi ce trouble est-il si fréquent en périménopause et quelle en est la cause?

 

C’est la faute des hormones voyons! Premièrement, les estrogènes jouent un rôle dans la production de bile dans l’organisme.  Quand le taux d’estrogènes chute, la quantité de bile produite diminue elle aussi.  Ceci modifie la façon de digérer les gras et provoque une plus grande production de gaz.  En outre, une diminution de la quantité de bile dans l’intestin peut causer la constipation, puisqu’elle agit normalement comme lubrifiant.

 

Deuxièmement, les estrogènes (toujours eux), ont un effet sur la rétention d’eau.  Durant les SPM, quand le taux d’estrogènes est plus élevé, le corps a tendance à retenir plus d’eau, ce qui provoque une sensation de gonflement.  En périménopause, quand les variations d’estrogènes deviennent sporadiques, la rétention d’eau fait de même.

 

Les ballonnements durent généralement de quelques heures à plusieurs jours. S’ils ne se dissipent pas dans les 2 semaines, une visite au médecin s’impose pour en vérifier la cause.  En effet, les ballonnements peuvent signaler un trouble sous-jacent plus grave tel la maladie de Crohn ou une alimentation déficiente. Par ailleurs, il est à noter que l’hormonothérapie peut provoquer des ballonnements.

 

Comment s’en débarrasser?

Pour éviter et/ou se débarrasser des ballonnements, il faut soigner son alimentation.  Il est bien connu que les légumineuses et le fromage provoquent des gaz.  Nombreuses sont les femmes qui, à l’aube de la ménopause, adoptent une alimentation plus saine et du coup, augmentent leur consommation de légumineuses.  Aussi louable que soit l’intention, les changements soudains peuvent s’avérer tumultueux pour l’intestin.  Il est donc préférable de commencer en douceur.

 

Voici quelques consignes :

 

Manger de petits repas régulièrement afin de digérer de manière efficace et d’éviter les ballonnements.

Éviter le café, l’alcool et les boissons gazeuses.

Réduire la consommation de sel.

Éviter les oignons car ils peuvent provoquer des gaz.

Dites adieu aux collations sucrées.

Marcher pour activer le péristaltisme et éviter la constipation.

Pratiquer un sport : l’exercice réduit le stress, facteur important de troubles digestifs.

Boire beaucoup d’eau.

N.B. Chez certaines personnes, le lactose peut provoquer des ballonnements.

Acne

 

Acne vulgaris (or common acne) is an extremely common disorder among young people - the average teenager is considered to be very lucky if acne is not part of his or her adolescent troubles.

Acne arises specifically as a result of an obstruction to the outlet of the sebaceous glands. Sebum collects at the opening of the gland and chemical changes(specifically, oxidation) produce blackheads - known medically as comedones. This exacerbates the obstruction, impairing the normal flow of sebum onto the surface of the skin.

The blocked sebaceous gland swells, with sebum collecting in the ducts of the gland. Infection sets in and produces an inflammatory reaction. If the contents of thegland and subsequent infection seep into the surrounding tissue, a more extensive inflammatory reaction may take place.

of preparations derived from different species and parts
of the plant (Hudson et al., 2005; Vohra et al., 2009). It
was reported recently that a commercial standardized
preparation of Echinacea purpurea (Echinaforce®)
possesses efficient and selective antiviral and antibacterial properties, in addition to antiinflammatory properties, with no cytotoxic effects (Sharma et al., 2009a).
Therefore it was decided to evaluate Echinaforce® for
its ability to control or inactivate P. acnes, and to inhibit
bacterial induction of pro-inflammatory cytokines, as
determined by cytokine antibody arrays. The advantage
of array technology is that multiple cytokines and
chemokines can be analysed simultaneously, and this
formed the basis of our recent study on virus-induced
pro-inflammatory responses and their reversal by
Echinaforce® (Sharma et al., 2009a).
